Gnomes ~ Herbs

My herb garden is blossoming along with all the other vegetation going on in my yard. I'm so excited! I thought I could only be a gardener when I lived in California since anything you throw in the ground grows, but I'm gettin' the job done here in Texas! As you can see I've got some basil, parsley and cilantro growing. I had some rosemary and dill, but the damn neighborhood squirrels thought it was fun to use the pot they were in for its own personal sand box. I'll try those later and see if it happen again, finger crossed. Enjoy my yard!

Audrey ~ My Kittybaby

I feel like you might not know who my baby is, I mean, my kittybaby, and not knowing who she is means you don't fully know who I am. Her full name is Audrey Hepburn Dufour "Shamu" Austin. Audrey Hepburn because she's wearing a tuxedo and she's classy like that, Dufour is my maiden name and hers as well; once you marry me, you marry my furbaby! Shamu is because shes just fat, but I think she's perfect and Austin is her new last name. A few more names might come into play at some point, but I'll stop here for now. Her nicknames vary. Right now she is either My Boo or Booger Boo. Sometimes I say boo in this high pitched squeak which I think is hilarious, but Sam (hus-band) does not.

I think that's enough at this point, I'll continue soon on the never ending story that is Audrey...

More of my new home

k ok, its been a while and I know it. The last pics I posted on here of my new home were the ones I stole off the HAR.com website. It's been about 4 months now since we moved in and it feels like we've always been here. Every room is complete except for one, the office. That one will take some time. Anyways, I have to thank my mother-in-law for spending all here (non)extra time helping us unpack, hang pictures and ladders, dig up that garden and use her awesome decorating style to complete our home. She is for hire btw, send me an email if your interested. Now I am by no means an architect photographer, but I try, so no judgements.

So here are some updates:

We lost a tree, don't worry it was already dead. At this moment, the guy was still strapped to the top of the tree. So much fun to watch!

My First Home

Last Friday my husband and I closed on our very first home. Let me tell you about a stressful yet unbelievable exciting time in our lives. We have never had to spend this amount of money at one time (which is stress in of itself), besides getting married I think this is the most important decision we have ever made and this means we are planting roots. Its pretty damn permanent.

We are staying in Houston and in the house for a long, long time. And we are in debt until 2040. Wow! I will be 60 years old. That is scary.

Stress and scariness aside, I am so freakin' happy. We walked around the house that first night and said "I own that wall and I can do whatever I want to it." "I own that sink, that drive way, that roof. It's all mine and I can do whatever I want this it."

Right now we have some people over helping us update our house a little. We are repainting the black brink and brown shutters on the outside (gross combo I know!), adding additional lighting in the living room/kitchen/dining room, adding some custom pieces to the closet (most exciting to me!) and little things here and there.

I'll try to grab some more pictures this weekend. These are the photos I snagged from the website it was listed on. I have a feeling this will be taking up alot of space on my blog in the upcoming months. Enjoy!
